Staying in Shape During the Winter?

Southeast Texas can be a challange in the winter time
because of the rain and cooler weather.

Finding different ways to get in shape seems to be on everyone's mind because USTA league tennis is around the corner again.

However, getting in shape and staying fit can be a challenge, especially if your used to playing tennis to keep in shape instead of exercising. Staying in shape requires you to workout and watch what you eat. Both of these can be hard to achieve duing the holidays and when the weather is bad enough you can't play tennis.

If you are used to playing tennis for a workout then it might be easier to find a partner to exercise with. Working out alone can be a bit of a drag. Try and find a friend to workout with.  If you can't find a friend to work out with and you have a dog, take your dog for a short walk or run. Soon your dog will start depend on the walks and will become your new workout partner. If you don't have a dog, walk your neighbor's dog (your neighbor will be eternally greatful) or walk one of your local animal shelter's dogs.

Use what you have. If you don't want to join a gym, you can always clear out floor space at your home and try simple floor exercises like push ups and sit ups. Working out at home may be a better fit for your lifestyle.

So what's your favorite way to stay in shape during the winter?  We would love to hear your comments...
