First, I would like to thank Gary and the SETTA for recognizing a man that contributed so much to my life and others on and off the court. He was very adamant about his students going to school and getting a higher education. I first met him at Magnolia Park in the summer of '79 for a summer tennis program. He was more than just a coach; he was a mentor to all of us there. Before he came down with memory lost he would stop by the office and encourage me to finish college. He was a wonderful charismatic friend. My love and prayers goes out to his family in their time of temporary lost. I use the word temporary because it shows us at Revelation 21: 4 that Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ gives us a hope that death will be a former part of our lives. Let us not forget the miracle Jesus performed. It was a touching scene. Lazarus was gravely ill. His two sisters, Mary and Martha, sent word to Jesus. Of course, Lazarus died some time after the message about his sickness was sent. On hearing that Jesus was coming, Martha ran out to meet him. Touched by her sorrow, Jesus assured her: "Your brother will rise." Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life."-John 11:20-25. After the stone was moved Jesus prayed out loud, he commanded: "Lazarus, come on out!"-John 1:20-25. Out of the darkness a figure emerged. Jesus said to them: "Loose him and let him go."-John 11:44. Yes, it was Lazarus, the man who had been dead four day! The Bible says, "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment. How comforting to us that Jehovah God through his son Jesus Christ helps us to appreciate his divine arrangement. So, let us not forget the words of the Psalmist, "This is my comfort in my affliction, for your own saying has preserved me alive. I have remembered your judicial decisions from time indefinite, O Jehovah, and I find comfort for myself. May your loving-kindness serve, please, to comfort me, according to your saying to your servant."-Psalms 119:50, 52, 76.
